ABOUT BENNETT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
The original Bennett Elementary building was constructed in 1908 and still stands today. The school takes its name from the original landowner, Dr. Maitland C. Bennett. In 1969, a "new Bennett" was built on Stonewall Road. In the fall of 1996, the third and current building was opened and today continues to serve excellence in education.
Bennett is home to a Center-based SIGNET Program which provides gifted services to eligible Bennett students as well as those from four other elementary schools. Classroom teachers are supported by specialists from special education, gifted/talented, group and individual counseling, art, music, physical education, and information management and techology skills development.
ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS & EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Bennett boasts a unique math/science enrichment program for all students K-5 to offer extended and enhanced lessons in the two content areas. Additionally, the school provides extra physical education classes for students to improve fitness and promote wellness.
Bennett also conducts a grade-level music program throughout the school year and offers an extensive Science Fair and Art Expo yearly.
OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARENT & COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Bennett Elementary has a strong, active Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) and parent partners are readily visible in many aspects of the school's administration. PTO meetings are held monthly, as are School Advisory Council meetings. Minutes from each are posted in the front lobby of the school.
WHAT MAKES OUR SCHOOL UNIQUE?
Bennett has been named a Prince William County School of Excellence for six consecutive years! The administration, teachers, and parents work together to ensure the success of each and every student.
